Creative Scientific Sabbatical
A “creative scientific sabbatical” worth €10.000 is awarded to the researcher with the winning entry. The prize is partly paid for by a subsidy from the K.F. Hein Fonds.

We think a creative scientific sabbatical could be; doing an internship with a company in the US which already developed a sustainable product, or being free from work for one day a week to develop your idea (during one year), or using €10.000 to make a prototype in China, etc, etc. But, the most important question is, what would YOU do with €10.000?

The winner may design the sabbatical however they like, of course there a few conditions:

• You are a researcher at Utrecht University, University of Applied Sciences Utrecht of UMC Utrecht.
• Your application or idea contributes to a sustainable world.
• The content of the Sabbatical is clearly related to the winning idea.
• Preferably the sabbatical is taken within a year after winning the prize, while working at the Utrecht University, University of Applied Sciences Utrecht of UMC Utrecht.

All you have to do is answer 5 questions
Participating in the Science2Business Challenge 2010 is very straightforward. For a chance to win a creative scientific sabbatical worth €10.000, all you have to do is answer these five questions:

1. Could you describe your research?
   
2. Can you translate this into a product or service that will make a sustainable contribution to our society?
   
3. What is required to make this happen?
   
4. How will your idea contribute to a sustainable world?
   
5. How will you spend € 10.000 on your creative scientific sabbatical?

UtrechtInc will organise several walk-ins from 31 May to 10 June. During these walk-ins our Science2Business Challengers Frits Fallaux and Bas Nagelkerken, will answer all your questions regarding invention secrecy, patents and protecting your idea or research.
